About the Coop CSUR

Who We Are

CSUR is a beautiful story! It tells the tale of citizen power—people coming together to imagine a better world. In 2006, residents of several rural municipalities in Vaudreuil-Soulanges were unable to connect to the networks of large telecommunications companies. These companies offered only partial and unappealing solutions for the population as a whole. Out of a surge of determination, Coop CSUR took flight. The four founders—Benoît Guichard, Guy Guénette, Lise Couët, and Norman Molhant—chose to take a different approach to life, pushing their imagination to set up an independent high-speed internet distribution network using radio frequency. Their vision extended beyond telecommunications; they wanted to see the birth of a cooperative world built on the values of social solidarity and sustainable development.

CSUR is a community united for success! Since 2006, the cooperative has continued to grow, strengthen, and help co-create a connected community, rich in exchanges and sharing. CSUR fosters the development of a strong social fabric, capable of supporting all members of its community. Together, we are stronger; together, we go further!

Innovative and thriving, CSUR has since deployed hundreds of kilometers of fiber optic cable in rural regions of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. A pioneer, CSUR became the first multisectoral cooperative in Quebec by adding agri-food services through the Écolocal Market and the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Food Hub. These initiatives allow citizens and businesses to source local, eco-responsible, organic, and zero-waste bulk products. The fundamental goal remains the same: to build collective solutions that democratize access to local services while addressing major regional challenges.

Becoming a member of CSUR means joining a community that shares your values, where together we can build a better future.
